Students can discover how many lines of symmetry are present in familiar shapes. Simply print and fold the shapes to see if they align perfectly. If there are no overhangs the shape has a line of symmetry.
Another method is to use a ruler and draw the lines. Simply locate the centre of the shape. Draw a small x. Use a ruler to visualise and draw a straight line through the centre of the shape. Start with horizontal or vertical lines, then aim for horizontal.
Inside this pack you will find lines of symmetry worksheets. You can choose to draw your own shapes or alternatively use the shapes provided.
